Yes. Glass replacement and glazing work can be carried out across common timber and aluminium window and door systems, depending on the condition and requirements of the existing frame.
Avoid putting pressure on the glass, slamming the window or door, or trying to remove loose pieces yourself. Keep children and pets away from the area, and if the glass looks unstable, avoid using the opening until it has been made safe. Send clear photos of the full window or door, the crack itself and the surrounding frame so Sam can assess whether it needs urgent make-safe work or a full replacement.
In most cases, cracked window or door glass needs to be replaced rather than repaired. Whether the frame can stay depends on its condition and the type of glazing.
For urgent jobs, temporary make-safe work may be used to secure the opening before the correct replacement glass is installed.
Glass can fail because of impact, edge damage, movement in the frame, temperature stress or defects. The surrounding frame and installation should be checked before replacement.
Photos and rough measurements can help with an initial quote, but final measurements may need to be checked before glass is manufactured or installed.
